Evaluation
Evaluation for editing the podcast
The reason I edited the podcast like this was that I knew that I wanted to add text to show the questions and the important information. This was important as if people who are watching the podcast would know what type of information is more important and could imply to them. I also knew that keeping the podcast simplistic was important as having loads of text and pop-ups that I had before the feedback made the podcast look more like a YouTube video. I also knew before editing the podcast that I needed it to be chatty and keep in all of the information that was needed, as a podcast is about talking. As my audience is 16-20 years old I thought that this style of editing would fit well.
Overall I am very happy with the final product of my podcast. I have added everything I wanted to add and more. I had a vision of what I wanted the podcast to look like when we were filming it as I could see what I could add to the edit. This really helped me to make the production I wanted. This is because by filming the podcast I could see how it was going to turn out as I could see that the connection was great for what the podcast was about and what our presenters added in to make it more entertaining.
When I was editing I knew what type of podcast I wanted to create. I did not want it to be really serious as these types of podcasts might not help people just get into exercise and want to live a healthy lifestyle. I wanted this podcast to be for everyone; who is just starting and who have done exercise for a while. I also wanted people to understand the questions in case they did not know what it was when reading out. I did this by adding the text of the questions and having a 'transition' or 'animation' on the title to make it more entertaining and look better in the edit.
I added in some 'over layers' when they were suited. I have added some text that is important for example 'typing out the question' so the viewers could understand the question better when they see it typed on the screen. I have also added some text that refers to what our presenters are saying, this type of text is information that I feel needed to be typed on screen so the audience would understand that these are important and you should try them out.
The different types of 'screenshots' I have gotten throughout the editing process resemble different types of stages of where I was during that time. Every minute of editing the podcast would be different as I am editing different clips that link into each other. During this editing process, there is always a new topic that is different from the previous ones as there are different questions. This made the full editing experience entertaining.
Editing this podcast has been something different from what I have previously edited. The whole project is a 'podcast' I have never edited and have been a part of one since this time. This wasn't too challenging as I felt like if I know how to edit videos of my own this one shouldn't be too difficult. I have also watched and listened to people's podcasts before and mainly the ones they post on YouTube are more relevant to what I have watched.
From the feedback I got for "improving the podcast", I realised that it was necessary and the changes made had an impact on the podcast in a positive way. The changes I made to the podcast were relevant and made the podcast flow better. This was because I got advised that once the question had been answered I should cut to the next question. This made the podcast have structure. The structure of the podcast that needed to be included was primarily focused on the questions and answers and removed clips that were not relevant to the question. This made the podcast look and sound professional as our presenters were not going off-topic and were still having fun and making the podcast overall informative and entertaining.
If I did not make these changes I don't think I would have made the podcast I originally wanted to create. I did not realise until it was pointed out how important this feedback was and how much it would have changed my podcast edit for the better.
The feedback I got from what "people liked about the podcast" was that they liked the way I edited the podcast. They liked the way I added in zoom ins when people were talking. The reason why I did this was that I wanted the audience to notice who was talking and what they were saying as they are saying something important and relevant. I also added zoom in for an editing side of the podcast as I did not want the podcast to be just one scene I wanted to make it more entertaining for my audience. They also liked the way I added subtitles and text for the questions. I did this so my audience would be able to understand the question better, and the text was included to highlight the important information.
I am glad that I edited the podcast like this as it made my audience like it enough to leave me feedback on it. Some of the type of editing I incorporated was what I thought about adding in before I even looked at the clips together. This was because I created a vision in my head of what I would like to add to the podcast while editing.
