Canon project Rationale

My idea for the Journey campaign

The type of journey I have chosen is Travel and I am going to add some personal places I have been to all around the world in my life so far. This journey shows how fortunate I have been to be able to travel to these destinations at a young age and to create unforgettable memories. I want people to understand how beautiful the world is no matter where in the world you go. I want people to understand that shooting pictures while you are abroad is amazing as when you look back on the picture you will be able to see all of the details that the camera has picked up on. You would also be living the moment all over again.

As travel is big to see on social media everyone is invested in where they went and what they recommend when they were there. These could be trips, restaurants, sightseeing, and companies to do travel and trips with. The main part I would be focusing on is sightseeing and trips, as this is one way of seeing everything in that place going on different trips around the town or city you get to see extraordinary views, landmarks, and buildings.

Pitch presentation

This is my pitch before I got feedback.

My final pitch

In my pitch PowerPoint I have 'my aims, my plan, my schedule, subject area, client research, researching the target audience and focus group'. All of the information needed is collected on the different slides underneath the different headings. This is helpful for my audience as they would be able to find out everything just by looking through the different slides.

As this pitch is going to be delivered to an audience who is interested in Canon's journey campaign, I wanted to present the correct information in detail so people can fully understand what my ideas are and what my final product is going to look like.

I have also added a 'plan' stage on the pitch of what I want on the front covers and the print advertisement. I have some ideas of what I want the front covers to have on and I wanted to add this to the pitch as it would give the audience an idea of what type of front covers I am making. I have mentioned relevant information about what I am going to add to the front covers as I have used information of my own, what my focus group and audience survey have said.

I have also added what I want to add for the print advertisement. I have mentioned that I am going to base this on one location which is going to be different from the front covers. This is because the location I have picked has loads of activities and events throughout the year which are going to be good for people who are not a fan of relaxing all of the time. This is also a great place for families as you can do as many activities and have as many relaxing days as you would want.

Audience consumption

Once people have gone through all of the slides they would have a good idea of what my products are about and what it is going to include. They will be able to give me feedback which I can use as an advantage and change what my final product is going to look like. I would appreciate honest and useful feedback as I would find out what I need to improve on and what doesn't need improving.

The audience would be getting a front cover advert from Canon's journey campaign and it would be about why you should shoot your travel. If the audience does not like how the first front cover looks I am going to make another front covers that is still about travel but will include different locations, information, and customisable features. Some of the information such as masthead, price, issue number, and bar code are going to be in the same location as I don't want to change where they are positioned.

I am also going to make a print advertisement that is going to be on the magazine's front cover. I am going to make this print advertisement about one of the locations I have been to. This is because there are loads of activities that would fit my audience's age. This location is going to be Dubai and I have been to a lot of places that Dubai is known for. Some of these locations are shown in the print advert.

The audience would be able to look at 2 different layouts of the front cover I have made as this would help me find out what type of style my audience would like the best. The content and idea are going to be the same but I'm going to have different font styles, and colour schemes and have images or text in different places. This would make the front covers look different compared to each other which would make them look unique to them all.

People would see these magazine front covers and print advertisements inside the magazine in newsagents, supermarkets, and any place that sells newspapers and magazines. Also as most things are becoming digital they would be able to see the front cover of the magazine and print advertisement on online apps that has news and magazines. This is because this way it expands the audience as people who own mobile phones would use phones to read information. But the older generation would prefer to read and look at magazines in a physical copy. Doing this it would mean that my age group 16-25 years old can choose where they want to view the magazine cover. As they are in this age bracket they would view the magazine and print advertisements online than going into the store as it is easier and convenient for them.

Also as Canon is a camera company they would want to advertise their campaign in more ways than one, this way there are many places online and in stores where people can view their campaign.

How would the content be shared?

The pitch has information about each slide in the form of text. This is because it is easier for the audience to describe what my vision is for this campaign. In this PowerPoint presentation, I have all of the important information that my audience is going to need.

One of the most important slides is "my plan" This is because in "my plan" I will tell you the creative process of what my plan is and what I am going to create and how. Also, what are all of my ideas are as I am going to create 2 different magazine front covers that have the same content but a different layout. I am also going to create one print advertisement that is going to be inside the magazine, this is going to be focused on one location.

How I am going to present my pitch

The way I am going to present my pitch is by google forms. I am going to get my friends to go through the pitch and I am going to see what feedback I am going get back. I am going to talk through the slides and tell them what information I have. The reason why I did this was because one of them was off all week and it meant that it would be easier for them to view it at home, and get the responses I need.

Pitch audience feedback after being presented

Here people can give me their feedback after the pitch has been presented. I can use the feedback I get from people and use it to improve my pitch overall to make it more appealing to my audience. The feedback I would benefit from would be about my ''flat plans, my designs for the front cover and print advertisement'. This is because I would be able to make changes to my designs which could improve them.

People like how detailed my pitch is by telling them what my journey is going to be about. This is helpful as the audience would have got a clear idea of what my plans are for this project, which means that they wouldn't have been confused about any of it.

This is reassuring as it means that there is nothing about my pitch that people do not like. This means that people are happy with what I am going to produce for Canon's journey project. This also helps me as people would feel like this idea for Canon's Journey campaign is a great idea. This also means that people in the age group of 16-25 would also like this idea.

For this question, two people said nothing, nice to hear as it means that they liked the pitch overall. Someone said that I need to add more images to my pitch, which is a good improvement as I haven't added many pictures to my pitch. The type of pictures I would add to my pitch would be Canon and screenshots for certain pages. These types of images would fit in the pitch as they would give the audience more of an insight into what responses and where I got the information from.

As I made two different designs for the front cover I thought it would be a good idea to ask which one they prefer. Two people have said the first one because it is more detailed and has images and colours that are inspiring to people. One person has said that they like the second one as it looks more professional. This makes sense as some of the magazines covers for a travel look like the type I have done. Overall this feedback is helpful as it means that I already have an idea of what my age group for my audience would like but some people might have a different opinion.

People have said that my schedule is suitable for my pitch and what my products are going to be. This is helpful as it means that I have created a perfect schedule that my audience approves of.

My final pitch based on my feedback
I used the feedback I got to my pitch better than it was before. I added more images on certain slides that resemble more information that would be useful for my audience.
